1. Every person has a genetically programmed body chemistry (Biochemistry) which processes the food we eat. However, YOUR basal metabolic rate is absolutely unique to YOUR genetic makeup. Your body requires a unique amount of nutrition each day to maintain it's basic “resting” metabolism.

2. 3,500 calories equals 1 pound...Period! Beyond your “resting metabolism”, if you exercise and burn 3,500 calories more than you consume, you lose 1 pound. 3. Carbohydrates and Protein macronutrients each provide 4 calories of energy per gram of consumed food and Fat provides 9 calories per gram. There are good (unprocessed, complex) carbs and bad (processed) simple sugars, as well as good (polyunsaturated) fats and bad (saturated trans) fats. The portion size of a meal necessary to meet daily nutritional needs will be more than twice as large if it contains mostly proteins and carbs than if it contains mostly fats. Amazingly; however, our body's biochemistry is CRAZY efficient at turning whatever we eat into exactly what it needs to thrive. Our bodies function on an organic, carbon-based economy which uses “energy currency”. This “carbon- based currency” provides the energy that is used by every cell for every bodily function.

Whether we eat carbohydrates, fats or protein, our bodies break these foodstuffs down and biochemically alter them into either carbon-based building blocks or utilizes them for energy. Furthermore, it doesn't matter whether we “over-eat” carbohydrates, fats or protein, our bodies will process the excess food we ingest ultimately into fat for “long-term” energy storage.

4. Every bodily expenditure of energy is called “cellular respiration”. Cellular respiration varies depending on cell type. Certain cells within the body use more energy than others. Cellular respiration can be accelerated by specific compounds known as metabolic stimulants. Select herbal supplements are known for having these properties.

Both utilize the available energy currency the same, but each taxes the body in different ways. In summary, the bodies energy utilization basically boils down to this simple axiom: Your body burns fat in the “furnace” of muscle in the “flame” of carbohydrate. Increasing your activity through exercise causes you to expend more calories while building your muscle mass through repetition. This increase in muscle mass enhances your overall “metabolic rate” and results in your body accelerating fat loss.
